One of the ways I can get school in with the older kids is to assign an older child to play with the younger ones for 30 minute increments. This way I don't have to worry about what the little ones are up to or if they are getting into anything they shouldn't be getting into to. It also brings a little variety every 30 minutes for the little guy so he doesn't get bored of the same playmate. By having this arrangement in place each older child gets a 30 minute break from school and I get time to spend with the other older children with reading or answering questions. I have fewer interruptions while working with the school children since the little guy is happy and occupied and the day just seems to run more smoothly. Having a playmate for my little guy during school days, Works for Me.

So I finally got to meet my midwife today. I am so excited. I delivered my last two babies at home and it was a wonderful experience. I only wish that I would have known about midwives and home delivery from the very beginning, I would have delivered all my children at home.

I love being in the comfort of my own home with my husband and children around. I love the one on one attention of having a midwife there with me to coach me along and I love climbing in my own bed after delivery with my new baby and husband and cuddling up to take a well deserved nap. I love that my children have the comfort of home while waiting for the baby to arrive and can color, make a cake or sleep (depending on the hour of the night).

Delivering at home with a midwife, works for me.

Chore Packs

I have just recently finished reading Managers of Their Chores by Steve and Teri Maxwell. It helps you to organize your children's chores into a clip on clear plastic carrier. This way your children have their list of chores in the order they need to be done and they can't use the excuse that they forgot anymore. They even have pre-reader cards with pictures for your little ones that can't read yet.

Having chore packs take the stress off of me to keep asking if my child has done a certain chore only to hear, "Oh, I forgot." Everyone knows what to do, and when to do it and I don't have to remember each and every persons responsibilities because it's all laid out for them and me. It is a little work to get it set up in the beginning, but so worth it if you ask me.

Having chore packs for the kids and less stress...Works for Me :)

Works for Me Wednesday

A couple of weeks ago when I had to go get Christiana and Josiah supplies for camp I decided to start off at the Dollar Tree. I'm so glad I did. Remember those travel size soaps and toothpastes that use to cost about 50 cents at Walmart? Well, they are no longer 5o cents. You pay about 97 cents for a little tube of toothpaste and a small bar of soap. Well, not for me any longer. I have learned that you can go to the Dollar Tree and buy two full size bars of Irish Spring or Dial or a couple of other brands for only $1. You can get deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes and snacks from there and get more than the little sample sizes. So, from now on when going on a trip somewhere we will always go to the Dollar Tree first and get full size items. Works for Me!

Works for Me Wednesday

Our goal as a family is to buy land and build our own log home from scratch. My husband took a course with the Log Home Builders Association in Washington state a couple of years ago and part of our reason for moving back to Tennessee was to find land and build. So when it came to finding a rental home we wanted to make sure that it wasn't too comfortable (because we want to make sure that we will move) and not expensive (since we are trying to save and build, debt free).

We feel so blessed to have found a 1500 sqft two bedroom home for way less than half of what we were paying for our home in VT. Fortunately, this home has an office, so that serves as a third bedroom, but even so it's still a squeeze for our family and all our stuff (not much storage). It's a cozy home and we are glad to have it but we are keeping our eye out for land. Some people think we are crazy for moving into a two bedroom with our family of nine, but it works for me :)
