Our Anniversary Trip

Jim and I headed to Pigeon Forge Tuesday afternoon to celebrate our 17th anniversary.  We had so much fun.  This was the first time in over four years that we had gotten away by ourselves. We've decided we should do this more often ;)

Thought I would share our trip with you.

 Went to the 3:30 showing

We headed out for dessert after the Sky Lift then back to our room. We were able to go in all the shops that we would dare not take the kids in when we are all together.

The next morning we headed out to the Tanger Outlet Mall before heading home.  We really had a great time and it was so nice to get away together.

I highly recommend getting out together every now and then, it's really great for your relationship :)

Getting Rid of Ants

Do you have problems with those little sugar ants that find their way into your kitchen and never seem to leave?  Well, here's a way to rid your kitchen of them.  A friend of mine posted this on Facebook and I just had to share.

I've actually tried the dry version of this and it worked but I think adding the water will make it work faster. I just made a batch this morning and distributed it around in various places where I have seen ants. Now just waiting to clear my house of them :)

Just  click on this link to find the recipe. Ant Killer.  Let me know how it works for you.

PS-For those of you who don't know what boric acid is, it's the Borax you find in a box in powder form in the laundry aisle at your local market. If the link doesn't

Update

Update on Jim's wrist:  We had a doctor's appointment to look at Jim's wrist again and it's all good news.  His wrist is healing nicely.  We have a few more days of wrapping medicated dressing on his wrist as his blisters finish healing then it's just the removable splint until we see the doctor again in 2 weeks.  The doctor has informed Jim that he is to start moving his wrist back and forth, up and down when he takes a warm shower so the hot water helps with the movement and that for about an hour a day he can remove the splint.

We still do not know when he will be released to go back to work, but are so glad that everything is healing nicely.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers, cards and gifts.  You have made us feel so loved.  We love and appreciate you all.

Blessings,
Tina

Tuesday's Tip

I posted this tip last year and thought I'd share it again since recently I needed it myself.

To get rid of those little fruit flies that like to hang around your kitche and fresh produce and like to drive you crazy, here's what you do. Take a small glass or dish and pour cider vinegar in it to about half an inch depth, then add one to two drops of liquid dish soap. They are drawn to it by the vinegar but drown in it due to the soap changing the surface tension.

This really works great. Try it for yourself.

Ice Cream Social

So sorry I've been away from blogging for a while, it's just that things have been so out of whack here at my house since the last week of June and I haven't been able to sit and blog.  But now that things are getting back to normal I can squeeze in a couple of minutes to get back to sharing with you what we have been up to here in the Merli house.

Yesterday was our church's annual Ice Cream Social and Kailtyn decided to make her own flavor of homemade ice cream to enter into the contest.  Her flavor was Reese's Double Peanut Butter Cup.  It was delicious!

Kaitlyn scooping up samples of her
flavor for tasting.

She won second place!!!
